Blog experience

The truth is that blogging is an interesting activity to learn. It also serves to interact with people that you do not know. I think it was a positive experience for me, a long time ago I wanted to learn how to use this platform and for lack of time I had not done it, but now that I was forced, I had to do it and learn.

It is a very simple platform to use and very powerful. You can add a lot of gadgets and interesting things. Its cons are that it requires a lot of time to write something interesting for others, and the public needs time to read carefully what you write. I suppose that this last one supposes great disadvantages to the most popular social networks nowadays, like Instagram, where the publications that are shared are quickly discarded ... like many of the things nowadays.

I think this platform is more sincere and something deeper. I also like that it is not so popular, I feel there is a bit of privacy here, haha.

I plan to make a blog later on topics that I want to share. If you are interested leave me in the address box what you want so I can contact you later.

My favorite food.

My favorite food is Italian preparations, especially pizza and pasta. Of these 2 preparations I prefer the most classic recipes: tomato, cheese and sausages for pizzas, and for pastas I prefer the sauce that contains tomato and meat (and of course Parmesan cheese). I do not know why I like them so much, I just love their taste.

Pizza became very popular in Italy because it was an extremely easy preparation and raw materials are needed at hand, the same goes for pasta. We must also consider that they are foods with important caloric contributions, something very necessary to carry out the work.

Also, I think that in Chile, we have adapted these cooking recipes to our culture, making them our own. For example, the classic Bolognese sauce that is made in Chile (onion, meat, garlic, tomato sauce) is not the same original Bolognese sauce from Italy. Likewise, the preparations of the pizza differ between Chile and Italy.

Finally I would recommend everyone to make their own pizza dough, it is easy and extremely richer than the ones prepared in the supermarket.

Blog 8. A very interesting topic: Silviculture.

Hello, today I am going to comment on one of the topics that I enjoyed learning in the University during this semester: silviculture.

Silviculture could be defined as the scientific discipline that seeks to manage the forest, and  it serves to intervene in the forest adequately to get products and services for society. The goods and services that can be obtained thanks to these interventions are multiple: improvement of water quality, soil stability, oxygen production, wood production, etc. Even this tool helps us to be better prepared to the climate change.

I like study this subject because it is an indispensable professional tool for the forestry engineer, and the teachers who have teach it are excellent.

We must bear in mind that it is a complex issue to understand and that biological and ecological bases are needed to be able to master it.

A visit to plantations, thanks to the "Silviculture" course.

Finally, I want to comment that there is still a lot to investigate in the native forest in terms of forestry, and especially in our Mediterranean forests.

A great tool: Glovis.

One of my favorite sites related to the topics of my career is GloVis (USGS Global Visualization Viewer). This is a tool that I got to know last year thanks to a geomatics course. The tool makes available a lot of georeferenced information. The information it offers includes digital elevation models, spectral signatures of objects, etc. In addition, the available information is of very high quality, the data has been taken by the most prestigious research projects in the world, and also the satellites used have a fantastic precision.

All this information can be used in official research projects. In addition there is information of previous dates! All this data collection has been headed by NASA.

It is difficult to find contras to such a good and free service, but I could say that perhaps the interface of the page is not so friendly.

This year I downloaded a lot of data from this page, to do different research tasks. To use it, you only need a free account.
